Audubon Community Nature Center

The Audubon Community Nature Center will hold a Birdathon to support the Ryan Exline Memorial Scholarship from 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday, May 4 at the Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Rd., Jamestown.

Join the birding team of educators and volunteers – either in person or by pledging – to support a local student pursuing a natural sciences career or education.

The Ryan Exline Memorial Scholarship awards a local student with an interest in pursuing the natural sciences heading off to college a $500 scholarship. The money for this scholarship is raised through the Birdathon. This is an (almost) all-day event in which the educators, staff and volunteers of Community Nature Center try to find as many species of birds as possible in one day. Generous supporters pledge an amount, either per species or in total and one result is the $500 scholarship. Participants can bird with the team or show support by pledging.

This scholarship is named in memory of one of the very first recipients of the scholarship. Ryan Exline was a volunteer, intern, nature-lover and attending graduate school at Duke University when he died in a car accident. His love of nature and of nurturing future generations of “nature nerds” lives on through this scholarship.

Donations to the scholarship can be made online.

Call 716-569-2345 by May 2 to be part of the birding team.
