Date(s) - Saturday, Apr 27, 2019
7:00 am - 11:00 am
Audubon Community Nature Center
Participants will Join ornithologists on the west side of the Nature Center on Saturday mornings April 27 through May 18, weather permitting. Watch how they capture migrating and resident birds, fit them with identification bands, measure, weigh and then release them.
Bird banding is an established technique used to discover details about the behaviors of birds. Visitors can drop in any time between 7 and 11 a.m. to learn from the ornithologists exactly how it is done and why. If weather is too harsh for the safety of the birds, the nets are not opened and an alternate date is chosen.
This program is free. Donations are appreciated. No registration is required.
