Learn about timber rattlesnakes at Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Friday Lunch Bunch at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1 at the center, 1600 Riverside Rd., one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York and Warren, Pennsylvania.

Presenter Rick Rupprecht spent his career as a math teacher at Jamestown Community College, but he has spent his entire life enjoying the outdoors in many ways. Rupprecht has been curious about timber rattlesnakes since his early 20s when he had a personal experience with one. This past July he accompanied his brother and nephew on a Pennsylvania Rattlesnake Hunt when most of the pictures and all of the videos for his presentation were taken. The well-researched talk will cover many aspects of the rattlesnake including reproduction, denning habits, the difference between venomous and poisonous and how to determine the sex of a snake.

A BYO brown bag lunch and conversation will follow the program, with coffee and tea provided.

The fee for attending is $8 for the public or $6 for Nature Center members. Registration can be completed online. Walk-ins are welcome.
