12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Burchfield Nature & Art Center
An Ash Seed Collection Workshop for Restoration and Conservation will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Rd, West Seneca.
Native seed collection is imperative for the preservation, conservation and reclamation of plant communities in decline. Faced with the loss of ash trees (Fraxinus spp.) as a result of the emerald ash borer, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Seed Bank and the US Forest Service National Seed Lab are collecting ash seed across New York State for preservation.
The Native Ash Seed Collection Workshop will cover protocols for ash collection and how to identify ash species. Please take plenty of water, lunch, sun protection, bug repellant, appropriate outdoor clothing and a field notebook. RSVP to Clara Holmes at 718-370-9044 or Clara.firstname.lastname@example.org.
