Garden Walk Buffalo is a major event in the City of Buffalo, showcasing gardens and drawing tourists to the area. The event also aims to give back to the community by supplying funds to blocks clubs and neighborhood groups that want to improve their streets and become part of this event.

The Marvin Lunenfeld Beautification Grants fund projects within the geographic area of Garden Walk Buffalo  (within the boundaries of the Niagara River to Main Street and the Erie Basin Marina to the Scajaquada Expressway).

The projects must be visible from the street. Past projects have included community gardens, hanging flower baskets, street corner planter projects and garden restoration.

Award amounts are based on the overall project cost.  The projects are required to include matching funds from government, private contributions or volunteer sweat equity.

Anticipated funding awards will be announced in early spring of 2016.

These projects will be highlighted during the coming year’s Garden Walk Buffalo.

Garden Walk Buffalo, the largest garden tour in the U.S., is held the last weekend of July each year. In 2016, the free event will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31. In 2015, more than 400 residences and businesses throughout the west side of Buffalo opened their creative urban gardens for tens of thousands of visitors from around the U.S., Canada, and abroad.
