The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County Master Gardener Program will host its Education Day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11 at Classics V Banquet Center, 2425 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst.

Speakers and topics are:

  • Gardening with Flowering Shrubs in the North. Tim Boebel, nursery manager at Wayside Garden Center. Author of Hydrangeas in the North and Today’s Hydrangeas.
  • Container Gardening: Drama for Every Season. Paul Zammit, past director of the Toronto Botanical Gardens, renowned international speaker. Back by popular demand.
  • How Climate Change is Affecting Our Gardening. Allison Morrill Chatrchyan, Ph.D, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University.

The event includes a hot buffet lunch, beverages and snacks. The day begins with registration from 8:30 – 9 a.m. The first of two morning sessions start at 9 a.m. The full hot buffet lunch will be followed by an afternoon presentation with the day ending at 3 p.m. The Master Gardener volunteers will also hold a basket auction to benefit their programs.
