This workshop is for folks who want to go deeper with wild edible & medicinal plants. Explore the diverse plant life at Chestnut Ridge with Community Herbalist Sarah Sorci. Well get acquainted with WNY plants that prefer sunny lawns, waters edge, shady woodlands, and the spaces in between.
Youll also sample a few of her favorite dishes and preparations made with nutritious wild greens! Youll receive recipe sheets to take home.
Youll leave feeling comfortable identifying a range of useful plants. Youll know whether there are poisonous look-alikes to watch out for in our region. Well discuss environmental contamination considerations when harvesting wild plants, such as pesticide application and lead in soils near older buildings. Sustainable harvesting considerations will also be addressed.
