This class in the Catch the Gardening Bug series will be on seed starting.

Classes will be held from 6 to 8 pm at the Genesee County Cornell Cooperative Extension, 420 East Main St., Batavia.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about harvesting a vegetable from a plant that you once held as a tiny seed in your hand. Seed starting also opens the door to thousands of new varieties that you may never find at the local nursery.

Master Gardener Brandie Waite will go over direct sowing, starting transplants indoors, basic equipment and the soil blocking method. Starting your own seeds can be intimidating, but with the right tools and timing, seed starting is remarkably fun and easy.

Fee is $10.
