Conservation Day on Bidwell Parkway

8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., butterfly release at 11:30 a.m

Join Gardens Buffalo Niagara and Eastern Monarch Butterfly Farm for a gathering of conservation organizations and a butterfly release at the Elmwood Village’s Farmers Market on Bidwell Parkway at Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo.

The event is free and open to everyone.

The event includes a butterfly release at 11:30 a.m. by Eastern Monarch Butterfly Farm. 

Erie County’s environmental spokesgnome, Frederick Lawn Gnomested, will be in attendance to share information about healthy pesticide-free lawns. There will be opportunities to take photos with Freddie.

Talk to local environmental organizations and pick up useful information. Participants include:

  • Erie County Soil & Water Conservation District Home for the Gnome
  • Pollinator Conservation Association
  • Black Rock Riverside Alliance Citizen Coalition for Wildlife and Environment

  • UB Department of Environment and Sustainability
  • Birds on the Niagara
  • Environmental Management Councils Healthy Lawn Campaign for pesticide-free lawns.   
  • Erie County composting programming 
  • Master Gardeners will also have some additional focus on reducing lawns and replacing with pollinator gardens.
