Two events celebrating monarch butterflies will be held by the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Rd., Jamestown.

Butterflies and Brews

Butterflies and Brews, an adults-only event, will be held from 6–9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

Learn about the life cycle and migration of the monarch butterfly while enjoying great food and drinks. There will be free-flying butterflies and you can see some of the butterflies being tagged with tracking numbers to assist with national efforts to track the monarch migration.

The cost is $35; register here.

Proceeds from Butterflies and Brews go directly to support Audubon’s monarch butterfly research and educational programming.

Monarch Butterfly Festival

The Monarch Butterfly Festival will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, August 26.

In an indoor garden, observe monarchs from tiny eggs to beautiful butterflies. There will also be indoor and outdoor festivities, educational opportunities, crafts, food truck, photo ops and the Blue Heron Gift Shop.

Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for Nature Center members and children 3 – 15, and free for children 2 and under. Registration is appreciated. Register here.

  1. Thanks for letting us know. If you have events like this, email them to me ahead of time. Here are some details: How can my gardening organization get events on your Upcoming Events Page?
We post events for free for nonprofit organizations. You can e-mail the information to me at Connie@BuffaloNiagaraGardening.com. Please make sure to include the address of the place where you are meeting; people from other towns may not know where a community center or church is located. Please tell me what the event is, the time, day, date, place and address. Optional: If you have someone who is willing to respond to questions about the event from our readers, include a phone number or email address to be included in the post. Include other information that is relevant to the event. Please send information only for events that are open to the public. You don’t have to wait to send us your information; you may send us all of your dates for the coming year at one time if you like. We try to post the information as soon as we get it. We publish the magazine on Tuesdays, so make sure you get an event to us before the Friday preceding your event.

  2. The annual Eastern Monarch Butterfly release will be held at the Clarence Hollow Farmers’ Market (10717 Main St)11am this Saturday. Adults and kids are always free.
