Audubon Community Nature Center’s 2017 Nature Photography Contest

The deadline to submit photos for the Audubon Community Nature Center’s 2017 Nature Photography Contest is Friday, June 30.

Now in its seventh year, the competition is designed to encourage anyone who enjoys doing photography – from beginners to professionals – to enter their images for consideration.

“The Photo Contest helps us fulfill our mission of connecting people with nature in two ways,” said Audubon Photo Contest coordinator Ruby Miller. “The photographer experiences nature while shooting pictures and the viewer becomes inspired to connect with nature when looking at the often-stunning results.”

Prizes of $100 are awarded in four categories within two divisions.

The Youth Division is for ages 8-18 or still in high school; Adult Division is for people age 18 and over or post-high school. The categories within each division are Landscapes, Plants (including trees, fungi, lichens, mosses, etc.), Wildlife (animals in their natural habitats), and Audubon Community Nature Center (photos taken in the building or on the grounds). The Audubon Community Nature Center was added last year to encourage taking photos at the site that exemplify the Audubon experience.

Winning photographs will be displayed on the contest website along with the photographer’s name and city. Audubon will make prints of the winners to exhibit at the Nature Center, and winning photographers will be named in a widely distributed news release to their local media.

See details of the contest here, including rules and past winners.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Rd., one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.
