Readers have asked me how they can find articles that have been previously published. There are several  easy ways to do this.

To find a particular article

You may have heard that a friend’s garden was featured in our magazine, or you may want to go back to an article you remember reading. It’s easy to do using our search box .

Scroll about halfway down any page on the web site. You’ll see a small box that says “Search & Hit Enter.” (See picture above.)

Type a keyword into the box. The word might be the name of the street on which a garden walk was held, or the name of your friend whose garden was featured, or a topic such as rain gardens or roses. After you’ve typed in the word, hit the enter key.

You’ll be taken to a new page that may have the abbreviated versions of several articles to choose from. Click on “read more” to go to the article you’re interested in.keyword cloud on Buffalo-NiagaraGardening.com

To find an article by topic

Some topics are listed at the top of the page, underneath the black bar.

You’ll find another group of topics just below the search box. You’ll see large and small words in a box labeled “Topics.” (This is what is called a “keyword cloud.” The larger the word, the more articles there are on that topic.)

Click on a topic and you’ll be taken to a page with abbreviated versions of several articles on that topic. In fact, there may be several pages of articles, which would be indicated at the bottom of the page. To go to the second page of choices, click on the number 2, or click on the arrow.

Click on “read more” to go to the full article. Hit your back button to return to the choices.archives for Buffalo-NiagaraGardening.com

To find an article by date

Still farther down the page, you’ll find a box titled “Archives.” By clicking on the month, you can see the articles that were published during that period.

There is also an “Archives” button at the top of the page in the black bar. By clicking on that, you’ll see the e-mailed version of past issues of the magazine.

The idea of an online magazine is a new concept for everyone. It’s not a blog, and it’s not quite a web site, it’s, well, an online magazine! If you have questions about how it works, please contact me. I’d love to hear from you!
